Love Thy Neighbor

Apparently my downstairs neighbor and landlord have never heard of ‘love thy neighbor’ or ‘do unto others as you would have them do unto you.’ I’m not sure if I quoting the second saying right but you get the idea.

Since the second month of living in my apartment my downstairs neighbor has been a complete jerk and plays his music so loud that when I wear earplugs while sleeping I can still hear his music.

The first time it happened I knocked on his door and asked him to turn it down. He said it he didn’t think it was that loud yet he had to turn it down in order to answer the door and speak to me.

The second time it happened I went down and knocked on his door but he didn’t answer. So I pounded on his door which resulted in his next door neighbor opening his door thinking I was knocking on his. He never answered.

The third time I called my landlord. The guy complained about me being loud after my landlord told him of my complaint. The fourth time I called my landlord and he said he would call him. The music never stopped that night. The next day I received flowers from my downstairs neighbor apologizing for the music.

Two weeks later he’s at it again. I call my landlord and he tells me there is an apartment available across the hall and I can move in asap. I look at the apartment and ask if he can lower the rent. He says no and I told him thanks but I’ll just deal with it for another month and a half. He tells me my neighbor and I need to work out our problem.

Here are some ideas of how to work out this problem with my neighbor:

1. Slash his tires.
2. Call AEP and have them turn off his electric.
3. Turn on the water and flood his apartment.
4. Leave the vacuum on while he’s sleeping.
5. Turn on my music really loudly while I’m at work.
6. Deck him.
