The Finish Line of One Race is the Start Line of Another

Yesterday I did my second triathlon and it was awesome!!! My goal time was 2 hours and I finished 15 minutes under that. I placed 154 of 249 overall and 16 out of 17 in my age group. Of the three legs, swimming was my best which isn’t all that surprising. I’ve know how to swim since my mom put me in the water and I love swimming. It was difficult when we first started; everyone was clumped together and kicking each other but then we fanned out and I was able to swim freestyle easily.

The bike was my worst leg. It started raining really hard about halfway through and never stopped. That was probably the worst part of the race. USA Triathlon rules don’t allow to wear headphones during the bike so I created my own little chant. It went: ‘Go Rachel, Go!’ Stella, my bike, was actually cheering me on. ;)

The run went really well, I ran 3.1 miles in under 30 minutes and my pace was 9:32. If I keep that kind of pace during my half marathon training I’m on my way to a 2 hour half marathon time! I didn’t mind running in the rain at all, it keeps you cool and it’s a lot better than 90 degree heat with 100% humidity. I finished strong though, I wasn’t too tired during the run and I received my finisher’s medal. Woo!
