I used to look forward to the day when I officially became independent. That day was when I found a full time job after graduating from college and living on my own completely and being financially independent and in charge of my own life. For the most part, that day has come and guess what? It sucks! Well, there are some good points.
The good points: I graduated from college in four years and about 5 months after graduation I landed a full time job, salaried, with benefits and at a great multinational company. I live on my own and not with my parents and not even in the same state. I am in charge of my own life and make my own decisions.
The bad points: Student loans suck! Worrying about a budget and deciding if I can splurge on those cute peep toe pumps also sucks.
When I look at the good points vs. the bad points it doesn’t seem that bad especially with what I’ve accomplished in 5 years. I’ll just have to keep reminding myself of those things. One of the things that carries me through everyday is probably my excitement for the little things in life and I mean little things. For example, hearing one of my favorite songs on the radio or someone giving me a miniature Reese cup (they’re my favorite).
